标题: 浪漫时期旅行异国
大家好.请问大家,为什么英国浪漫时期异国旅行那么流行啊?,很多诗人(比如Wordsworth, Shelly, Byron等等)都到异国旅行,他们诗歌里都有异国情调. 我找了很多资料,但查不到这方面资料,哪位能告诉我主要原因有那些啊? 谢谢.

不可否认有追求新奇，奇异的色彩，这也是浪漫主义的特性之一，但是也有因为偶然原因出去的吧，比如华滋华斯去法国，济慈去意大利养病等等，其实看看浪漫主义之前到异国旅行也不少吧，比如goldsmith ,诗人格雷和walpole 结伴旅游后来大吵一架（见samuel johnson的诗人传），包括samuel johnson 自己，piozzai夫人形容他只能欣赏小雨天树林里的风景的人不也是经不住boswell的诱惑，跑到个偏僻小岛上逛了逛嘛。

Byron- because he'd had too many scandals in him, he's have to leave for Greece
Shelly- because he eloped with his teacher's young daughter and divorce his wife Harriet, who later committed suicide, he'd have to escape to Italy and Switzerland with his about-to-be-18 new wife

Actually after his seperation with Lady Byron in 1816 he went to several European countries, staying a while in Geneva where he and the Shelleys spent some good time together, before finally settling down in Italy. He didn't return to Greece until 1823. The rumours about him and his half-sister was part of the reason for his depature. But he might also fear that his bisexuality might be exposed, as sodomy was a capital offence in Britain at the time.

In his *first* tour of Europe, which he took between 1809 and 1811, he went to Portugal, Spain, Greece, Turkey and Albania. It's during this tour that he wrote the first two cantos of Childe Harold's Pilgrimage, which made him famous.

As for the reason of these "grand tours," I'll lead you to this amusing observation in one of Terry Pratchett's sci-fi/fantasy novels:

In those days rich young men from Ankh-Morpork used to go on what we called the Grand Sneer, visiting far-flung countries and cities in order to see at first hand how inferior they were. Or so it seemed, at any rate.

Byron would approve.

不明白你在问什么。你也许可以去看看研究orientalism的书，然后自己得出结论
