华兹华斯曾经说过说： “诗起于经过在沉静中回味来的情绪”。全文如下：
I wandered as lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’ er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
