标题: A Poem of Whitman for All of Us
I Saw In Louisiana A Live-Oak Growing

I SAW in Louisiana a live-oak growing,
All alone stood it, and the moss hung down from the branches;
Without any companion it grew there, uttering joyous leaves of dark green,
And its look, rude, unbending, lusty, made me think of myself;
But I wonder'd how it could utter joyous leaves, standing alone there, without its friend, for I knew I could not;
And I broke off a twig with a certain number of leaves upon it, and twined around it a little moss,
And brought it away, and I have placed it in sight in my room;
It is not needed to remind me as of my own dear friends,
(For I believe lately I think of little else than of them;)
Yet it remains to me a curious token, it makes me think of manly love;
For all that, and though the live-oak glistens there in Louisiana, solitary in a wide flat space,
Uttering joyous leaves all its life, without a friend, a lover, near,
I know very well I could not.

Loneliness is never the true enemy of a person. May we have the same patience and happiness.

You are so optimistic. I just found that you are a girl and a little younger than me, maybe that is the reason.
I can never so sanguine like you. Loneliness is not my enemy, on the contrary is my friend.

Please do not take anything for granted and it is dangerous to fathom the person from what he/she says or writes. Let's take the New Critic way and just focus on the texts :-)

Hope you will not be too diappointed one day. And I will touch upon this point when I begin to discuss Lolita.

When I first found someone want to discuss Lolita, I thought he/she must be very learned, when you said "The World Cup is coming." in the message you sent to me , I thought you are a boy. When I found you are a girl and so young, I felt so amazing with that.
Not that I have any prejudice with girls. But I indeed didn't imagine this kind of situation.
I read little about novels, acutually I am avoiding reading novel.And I havn't read Lolita, But if you begain with your discussion I'll read it.
I am sure I won't be diappointed with you, only to find more wonders from you!
Hoping for your splendid discussion!

what's wrong with Lolita? Millions of readers in China are reading it even those chinese scholars--who are always fell behind the age!
an addendum to the topic--loneliness is certainly terrible within a given time(a dark night alone!), but how funny, the life gives us more to challenge its power,especially when someone is in love.

Do you really know the main matter of Lolita? If you do, you'll understand what duessa was saying.

She said she is afraid that I will be disappointed with her when she begain this special subject. We are not talking about the novel but the discussion she will show us.
