在《罗密欧与朱丽叶》剧第二幕第四场中,Mercutio和Benvolio一段对话末尾Mercutio说:
Mercutio:
The pox of such antic, lisping, affecting phantasims, these new tuners of accent! "By Jesu a very good blade, "a very tall man, a very good whore." Why is not this a lamentable thing, grandsire, that we should be thus afflicted with these strange flies, these fashion-mongers, these "pardon-me"'s, who stand so much on the new form that they cannot sit at ease on the old bench? O their bones, their bones!
我不理解这句话和上面Benvolio的问话The what?有什麽关系。看了顾静宇的注释,看了梁实秋的注释。他们好像说Mercutio在揶揄Benvolio。我努力往这上面想,可就是不理解Benvolio在这段对话中的表现有什麽好被揶揄的。望同学先生释疑解惑。Benvolio就是不明白Mercutio在上一句话中用的词"The Hay",所以问了一句"The What",接下来Mercutio就说了上面这段让我莫名其妙的话。
话的意思我大概知道,我不理解这个意思怎麽跟上文接上。 |
