*非常女人

漂亮女人想知道我的秘密何在。
我不伶俐，也未生就一付时装模特的身材，
可是当我开始对她们讲，
她们却认为我在说谎。
我说，秘密
在我的一伸手，
在我的一扭臀，
在我的一跨步，
在我的一撇唇。
明明白白，
我是个女人，
非常女人，
那就是我。

我走进一间房
随心所欲般潇洒，
我走向一个男人，
那些男人就立正或
膝盖跪下，
然后蜂拥着围在我的身边，
好象蜜蜂围着蜂巢转。
我说，秘密就
在我眼里的火热，
在我牙齿的闪亮，
在我腰肢的摆动，
在我步履的轻扬。
明明白白，
我是个女人,
非常女人，
那就是我。

男人们也想知道
我身上究竟有何魅力。
他们冥想苦思，
却无法触及
我内在的神秘。
当我尝试向他们展示，
他们说还是搞不懂。
我说，秘密
在我的弧线般的背上，
在我阳光般的微笑中，
在我的起伏的乳房上，
在我的优雅的风格中。
我是个女人。

明明白白，

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.

窄小的笼中


他就无法看穿


令他愤怒的栅栏


他的翅膀被剪短


他的脚趾被束缚

笼中鸟唱着


带着可怕的颤音


唱着未知的事物

自由的鸟儿想着另一类微风


信风轻柔地穿过叹息的树林


肥胖的蠕虫在黎明的草坪上等候


他以自己的名字命名天空。



可是笼中鸟站在梦想的坟上


他的影子大叫


在噩梦中的哭喊之上


他的翅膀被剪短，他的脚趾被束缚


他放开喉咙要歌唱。



笼中鸟唱着


带着可怕的颤音


唱着未知的事物


却渴望着平静


他的声调


在远方的山上也可以听到


因为笼中鸟


歌唱着自由。

I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings

A free bird leaps on the back of the wind
and floats downstream till the current ends
and dips his wing in the orange suns rays
and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks down his narrow cage
can seldom see through his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and his feet are
tied so he opens his throat to sing.


The caged bird sings with a fearful trill
of things unknown but longed for still
and his tune is heard on the distant hill
for the caged bird sings of freedom.


The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the
sighing trees and the fat worms
waiting on a dawn-bright lawn and
he names the sky his own.


But a caged bird stands on the
grave of dreams his shadow shouts
on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are
tied so he opens his throat to sing.


The caged bird sings with a fearful trill
of things unknown but longed for still
and his tune is heard on the distant hill
for the caged bird sings of freedom.

my two cents:

1。phenomenal woman中的"phenomenal",并非现象的意思。这里，是“extraordinary" "exceptional", "remarkable"的意思。如果你是用的快译通或是金山词霸，那个恐怕不能解决翻译问题。如果用的是一本合理良好的字典，有无数意思，不知选那个最好，那个，恐怕只能用加强对语言语意语境的了解来完成了（如果你先天对文字敏感，用“直感”或常识，大多数情况，都差不多可以了）。语感只能来自多读。如果你知道捷径，望告知。

2。wonder:有curious的成分

3。cute: 这里和外貌（主要是气质）有关，无关智力。指一种可爱的attractiveness.

4. It's in the reach of my arms/The span of my hips,/The stride of my step,The curl of my lips. 这里的”reach", "span", stride和curl，在这里都作为名词用，而它们每一个词，同时都可以作动词用。原文的这样一个flow, 每一行都是一个生动的image, 所以这几个词，个人认为要重点翻译，作为arms, hips, step和lips的描绘，并完成创造imagery的功效。

这个不仅是语言问题，恐怕和你对诗的基本看法和理解相关－－诗的imagery功效，即使在断句大白话可以作诗的如今，还是她最potent的方式－－翻译嘛，虽说不是不可以再创作，但“信”还是最重要的，除非你“再创作”的，比原文更出色。

呵呵，信口说说，勿怪。继续继续，只要足够的心思用进去，没有什么作不成的。
