By Robert Collins

Historical documents casting new light on the growth of Leamington
have been unveiled at Warwick's county record office.
With the help of donations from organisations in Warwickshire and
across the country, the record office bought the archive of family and
estate papers relating to the Willes family of Newbold Comyn for
£72,000 at Sotheby's.

The maps, deeds, accounts and other documents reveal much about the
history of the family and its contribution to the development of
Leamington. These include papers relating to the creation of Newbold
Comyn, canals, churches and architecture. There are also items of
national and international importance, including correspondence with
relations of Lord Byron and Robert Byron.

Head of heritage and cultural services Caroline Sampson said: " The
collection is now secure for generations of researchers to enjoy."

The documents can be viewed at the record office.

It seems that there should be an update of the late Leslie Marchand's "Letters and Journals of Lord Byron"? Maybe Andrew Nicholson or Jerome J. McGann will edit?
