我是一个有一点偏执狂的人，会跑到图书馆专门抄录关于Gibran,Kahlil的词条。我在Britannica,Americana和World Book里找到各种各样离奇古怪的对G·K·G的词条

Lebanese-American Philosophical essayist, novelist,poet and artist.
Having received his primary education in Beirut,Gibran immigrated with his parents to Boston in 1895. He returned to Lebanon in 1898 and studied in Beirut, where he excelled in the Arabic Language.On his return in 1903 he published his first literacy essays and met Mary Haskell,who was to be the benefactor of all his life. (注意这里没有提到巴黎）In 1912 Gibran settled down in New York City and devoted himself to writing literacy essays and short stories, both in Arabic and in English, and to painting.
Gibran's literacy and Artistic output is highly romantic in outlook and was influenced by the Bible, Friedrich Nietzsche and William Blake. His writings in both languages, which deal with such themes as love, death nature and a longing for the homeland, are full of lyrical outpourings and are expressive of Gibran's deeply religious and mystic nature.

……Gibran's Writings teach a philosophy of  universe peace and  religious  tolerance based  on  a spirit of love that transcends culture differences......he wrote in Arabic until 1918(Mary Elizabeth Haskell Is Not Mentioned Here), when he began writing in English. The Publication of the Prophet (1923)established his fame in English-Speaking countries. It is a mystical poem that explores the importance of love. Gibran also wrote fictions and non-fictions
大英百科全书没有提到纪氏是Born in Maronite Christian Lebanon,我们知道在法国统治时期（1920~1949）这一派势力很大。
......and, at 15 years of age, entered the Maronite School in Beirut. Later, he studied painting in Paris(Not Mentioned in Britannica). In 1912, Gibran moved to NY, where he lived until his death. Gibran's multicultural upbringing greatly influenced his writing.

大美百科好像很给面子，有一个专门的词条Prophet, The，我懒得抄了，Gibran,Kahlil中对The Prophet 是这样写的

M.E.H 好像在World Book和Americana中都没有提到，纪伯伦在Paris的生活也不是很详细（这是他思想的转折点）另外对“笔会”一个字都没有说到。可能是辞书出版的简明风格？可是 Gide,Andre的词条释义在大英百科全书上有整整三栏。可能是那些欧美百科全书比较偏爱欧美作家吧
