well, i think in this article, there are two important points which T. S. Eliot has proposed . the one is the sense of historical sense. the other is the impersonal theory.

Thank you very much for your comments!
First of all, I want to recommend a book to you: Harold Bloom: The Anxiety of Influence http://www.reeds.com.cn/viewthre ... &extra=page%3D1
This book is very important in 20th century's criticism history. In this book Harold Bloom gave absolutely contrary view about the relationship between Tradition and the Individual Talent. He thinks that the whole history of western Poetry is a history of scions rebelling and correcting deliberately thier forefather, and thier fatherpoets was renewly created in their rebelling and correctting. And he simultaneously thinks that only strong Poets can succeed in this campaign with thier ancestors and become finally "The one".
I think T.S.Eliot is this kind of Poet, He has become The one before he wrote this article.
My English is poor, and I have not absolutely understood this article. but I feel that you can get usefull information from Harold Bloom's book.

Hi Esprit,
In my mind, both literary theory and criticism are add-ons of the origin creations.
Maybe there once was a very great book(maybe The Bible? the Homer?) first, and then lots of people were curious about its greatness,so they began reseaching. So they became critics.
Tout ce qui est vrai est démontrable.
