On Love

When love beckons to you follow him.
当爱召唤你，请跟随他
Though his ways are hard and steep.

And his wings enfold you yield to him,

For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you.

Even as he is for your growth so is he for your prunning.
他教你成长 亦重新修剪塑造你
Even as he ascends your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,
他攀附于你的高度爱抚你摇弋于阳光下的嫩枝
so shall he descends to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.
同样地 他俯身 摇动深入大地的你的根脉
Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself.
如捆缚稻穗般把你揽入怀
He threshes you to make you naked.
打谷般使你裸露于前
He sifts you to free you from your husks.
筛撒般使你脱离外在的束缚
He grinds you to your whiteness.
磨碾般地使你露出内在的自我
He kneads you until you pliant.
和面般地直至你的屈服
And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, then you may become sacred bread for god's sacred feast.
之后将你置于圣火前成为上帝圣餐中的祭品
All these things shall love do unto you that you may know your secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of life's heart.
凡此种种都是爱的对待 或许你就能明白心灵的秘密因此也终将成为你生命灵魂里的一部分
But if your fear you would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure.
但是倘若胆怯你只能追寻爱的平和与愉悦
Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love's threshing-floor.
那最好 盖上赤裸的身躯离开爱的打谷场
Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter , and weep, but not all of your tears.
重归平淡无味的世界 。
笑，却从不开怀；
哭，却从不尽兴。
Love gives naughty but ifself and takes naughty but from itself.
爱 给予顽皮一足之地但事实上本身就是顽皮的
控制顽皮 但是从自身上控制的
Love possesses not nor be possessed.
爱从不占有 也不被所有
For love is suffient unto love.
对于爱本身而言 爱已足够
When you love you should not say 'god is in my heart', but rather 'i am in the heart of god'.
当爱时你不言：上帝于我心中。而是：我于上帝心中
And think not you can direct the course of love, if it finds worth, directs your course.
不去设想你能引导爱的去向
如果爱发现一切值得他便引导了你的全程
Love has no desire but to fulfil itself.
爱无所求 只愿实践本身
But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires.
但如果你爱时必须 有所希翼
让这些成为你的希翼吧：
To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.
融消冰雪 如汩汩的小溪 唱着它的乐章昼夜奔流
To know the pain of too much tenderness.
明白太多温存的痛苦
To be wounded by your own understanding of love.
在自身所悟的爱 中受伤
And to bled willingly and joyfully.
并心甘情愿 欢愉地淌血
To wake at down with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving.
在黎明时分 怀着一颗轻松如翅翼的心 醒来并感谢又一天拥有爱
Love rest at the noon hour and mediate the love's ecstasy.
爱在午时小憩 沉思爱的欢欣
To return home at eventide with gratitude.
在傍晚归家 心怀感激
And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your hearts and a song of praise upon your lips.
然后 为你所爱之人祈祷 唇间哼着赞歌悄悄入眠 |
